Creating a system like AMBER Alert to more quickly find missing persons with dementia is the aim of a new law sponsored by Senator Bill Brady.

Senate Bill 27 creates the Endangered Missing Person Advisory to provide a regional system for the rapid dissemination of information about a missing person who is believed to be a “high-risk missing person,” which now includes a person with dementia-like symptoms.

“Time is of the essence when a person with dementia is missing or has been targeted for harm by a criminal,” Senator Brady said. “This new system will give our public safety officials more information more quickly when a person with diminished reasoning capabilities is missing.”
