Senator Bill Brady has drafted a resolution calling on Governor Rod Blagojevich to resign immediately.
“Governor Blagojevich was arrested December 9 by federal authorities in response to allegations about his attempts to profit from naming the next United States Senator. The ensuing investigation and judicial proceedings will require his full attention,” Senator Brady said. “Although I have long had concerns about his unwillingness to work with lawmakers, he is now clearly unable to fulfill his official duties.
“Scores of state and federal officials from both parties have called on Governor Blagojevich to resign, but their requests do not seem to be making much of an impression. Well, if he needs it in writing, here it is,” Senator Brady said, referring to his Senate Resolution, which will be filed next week when the General Assembly returns to Springfield. “It’s time for him to act in the best interests of the citizens, and resign immediately.”" /> Skip to Main Content
