State Senator Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) announced on Thursday that his office would collect supplies to aid in the recovery efforts for those affected by tornado damage in Tazewell County.
“I’ve been out in the field and the damage is just devastating,” said Brady. “With winter coming we need to do all we can to help these people get back on their feet as quickly as possible. My office will serve as a collection site for items needed to aid in the recovery effort.”
The Senator noted that disaster response agencies were asking for very specific donations including bottled water, non-perishable food, toiletries, baby items, blankets, and pillows. Also needed are coats, hats, gloves, and scarves as well as gift cards to allow those affected to purchase other needed clothing items.
A semi-truck will be available Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM to accept donations at Senator Brady’s office at 2203 Eastland Dr. Suite 3 in Bloomington.
Brady also encouraged area residents to make donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Fund and Salvation Army. Both groups are on the ground helping to provide shelter, food, and clothing to those displaced by tornado damage.
