State Sen. Bill Brady(R-Bloomington) reacted Friday to news of Mitsubishi's plan to close its manufacturing plant in Normal, IL. He said he had spoken with officials from Mitsubishi and Governor Bruce Rauner's office regarding the plan to close the plant.
Brady, while pledging to help Mitsubishi employees with the transition, also pointed out that Bloomington-Normal's highly-skilled, hard-working labor force and very modern manufacturing capabilities will be enticing to potential buyers.
"We are going to do everything in our power to find another manufacturer for Bloomington-Normal," Brady said. "We know we have a very marketable, attractive product that was not being used to its full potential. Additionally, until a buyer is found, I pledge to continue working with local other government officials to assist the nearly 1,300 Mitsubishi employees with the transition."
