State Senator Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) offered the following comments as the Illinois Senate adjourned on the last scheduled day of the spring legislative session:
“We’re ending May, yet again, without a true balanced budget. This is déjà vu. Despite our sincere efforts to work across the aisle in good-faith, Democrats chose to take their own route -- pushing an unbalanced budget, a tax increase without real reforms, a watered-down workers’ compensation reform bill, and no meaningful property tax relief for the people of this state. More of the same isn’t what people need,” said Brady. “There is still time to get this done before July 1, but to do that we have to get back to the table, and soon, to find that bipartisan compromise that we were so close to reaching this spring.”
